Outland
Outland is a indie metroidvania you can pick up on Steam. Other than its unique aesthetic, I didn't really find anything that interesting about Outland. It is inoffensive as it doesn't really frustrate you or annoy you, but doesn't leave much of an impression either.
Outland uses a combat system of wide swipes tinged with either light or dark powers effective against the opposite type. It's very straightforward. The navigation is also very straightforward. It's impossible to get lost, but that's just because it's entirely linear. You get powerups but nothing that fancy.
Outland's aethestics are this stylish silhoette look. It's fun to look at, but it does kind of make everything look the same as silhoettes are inevitably black. Don't get me wrong, it tries to make things look different, like going to a temple or a jungle or a snow world, but a silhoette is a silhoette. It's pretty limiting, even if it is stylish.
The game is not long and its pretty cheap so I don't have that much negative to say. It's a pretty mediocre game. It accomplishes what it wants to and not much more. Pick it up if you want a metroidvania with a different style, but there are other games to try out.
